Each year, we at ONC participate in Operation Christmas Child by preparing shoeboxes in November and arranging shipment to Samaritan's Purse in Boone, NC.
🎁 Operation Christmas Child is a global outreach project run by Samaritan’s Purse. It’s a hands-on way for individuals, churches, and communities to share God’s love with children in need by packing shoeboxes filled with gifts and essentials.
📦What’s in a Shoebox?
Each shoebox typically includes:
- Toys: Small stuffed animals, balls, dolls, puzzles
- School supplies: Pencils, notebooks, crayons
- Personal care items: Toothbrushes, combs, soap (in a container)
- Accessories: Socks, hats, hair ties
- A personal note or photo: To encourage the child and share love
Note: Items like toothpaste, liquids, food, or war-related toys are not allowed due to customs and safety concerns.
🌍 The Mission
- Evangelism: Each box is accompanied by a Gospel booklet in the child’s language.
- Discipleship: Many children are invited to participate in The Greatest Journey, a 12-lesson Bible study that introduces them to Jesus and helps them grow in faith.
- Global Reach: Shoeboxes are distributed in over 100 countries, often through local churches.
You can pack a box yourself or build one online —select items digitally, write a note, and Samaritan’s Purse will pack and deliver it for you.
