Daniel Wayne Bohi was born October 22, 1960 to Jim and Carolyn Bohi in Kankakee, IL.
Dan had three siblings Doug, Linda and Teresa. The Bohi family moved to Olathe, KS in 1972 when Dan was in sixth grade. Dan loved basketball and soon excelled to become one of the greatest players in Olathe’s history, still holding records at Olathe High School.
Dan met the love of his life, Debbie, in eighth grade when their love story began. Those high school sweethearts married at 19 years old on July 5, 1980. They proceeded to have four children in five years. Kristen, April, Chad and Josh who’ve all grown up and have wonderful families of their own. Dan and Deb have 16 grandchildren who are the absolute joy and delight of their lives.
Dan has been a family man alongside Deb from the very beginning. Dan was larger than life; a dreamer and did nothing half-heartedly. He was an all-or-nothing kind of guy. A few examples include a lake house not with one jet ski but four…a farmhouse not with one dirt bike but five. You get the point. He was also the most generous man most of us have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Dan had a life-altering car accident on June 15, 1995 which totally transformed his life. There was no turning back, he became a man after God’s own heart, craved his Word and a man on a mission…to share the gospel of Jesus with everyone he met. In those early years, one of the primary ways God used Dan was simply by sharing his testimony of how his heart was made pure. One of the highlights of the vivid sharing of his life’s testimony always included the night he knew he wanted to marry his Debbie, and even remembered what she was wearing - white painter pants, a yellow sweater vest and the Chris Evert Lloyd socks with the little balls on the back of the heel.
Those early years sold out to Jesus looked like ferociously reading the Bible, preaching in prisons, leading Bible studies and sharing his faith with everyone he met. Dan and his many brothers built a “glory barn” that served as a hub of ministry on the outskirts of Olathe where many found freedom in Christ and were discipled in His word.
Everything Dan did seemed to “take off” from business, construction, development, and the like. He and Deb had a wild ride for 44 years with many ups and downs. In 2008, after the housing market collapsed, they were driving home from their favorite place on earth, Jackson Hole, WY, where they originally fell in love at sixteen while on a teen mission trip, everything changed once again. While gassing up in Laramie, WY, Dan heard the audible voice of Jesus say, “I want you to preach the gospel until you die.”
Getting back in the car he told Deb, “I believe God just told me to preach his word all over the world until I die.” Which she responded, “then you better go do it!” Dan’s first “full-time call to ministry” strategy was reading the Bible cover to cover in a matter of days, a practice he carried on for most of the last 17 years. Dan began to ask and seek the Lord regarding how this word was going to materialize. His first full-time stent in travel ministry was sleeping on an aero bed in his son Chad’s living room on the Central Coast of California.
One church then the next church, one district then the next district…over a span of 17 years Dan preached in thousands upon thousands of churches all over America including a few international trips. Through it all, the message was clear, the gospel means freedom from sin, healing from sickness, disease and infirmity, and power for purity and the Spirit-filled life. Dan was a wrecking ball for Jesus to the schemes and plans of the enemy to steal, kill and destroy and carried a unique anointing for freedom, healing and deliverance in Jesus. The thousands upon thousands of miracles of healing and transformation Dan and Deb got to witness through the years are impossible to fully recount. God has been so faithful through it all.
One of Dan’s most meaningful ministry endeavors over the last few years was Becoming Love Ministry’s reach around the world through the digging of water wells, planting of churches, discipling new believers, encouragement for pastors and rescuing those bound by human trafficking through strategic global partnerships. Dan had a global-sized heart for Israel, India, Pakistan and Africa and sowing gospel seeds into these areas were a great joy for Dan over these last few years.
Dan tragically passed away on October 27, 2024 and is survived by his precious wife Debbie, all four children and their spouses and all his 16 grandchildren.
In lieu of gifts, if you’d like to make donation to a wonderful cause please make your contribution to Becoming Love Ministries so that the many global initiatives that are having profound impact continue well beyond his unforeseen passing. Please continue to pray for Debbie and the whole family as the “hole” left by Dan is so incredibly large.
